Alleged live images of Samsung’s cancelled foldable smartphone surface

“It appears that Samsung was working on a foldable smartphone sometime between 2015 and 2016”

Several reports in the past have suggested that Samsung is working on a foldable smartphone. Most recently, a leak suggested that Samsung could launch the world’s first foldable phone at some point next year. Now we may have received a look of a previous attempt by the South Korean tech giant to create a foldable smartphone, but one with two different screens. The popular Chinese leakster @MMDJ on Twitter has posted a number of live images of a cancelled Samsung handset with two displays.

The leakster claims that these leaked images are of the Samsung Project V smartphone, which had the model number SM-G929F. Going by the model number and the photos, it looks like the South Korean tech conglomerate was working on this particular device at some point between 2015 and 2016. As of now, there’s no word why the company cancelled the Project V.

As for the design, the leaked images suggest that the Project V had two separate screens joined by a hinge, which isn’t much different from ZTE’s Axon M smartphone (first impressions). The main display appears to have a selfie flash and a physical home button at the bottom bezel. The part of the handset with the secondary screen is also slimmer than the one with the main display. In terms of ports and buttons, the device seems to sport a 3.5mm headphone jack, a speaker grille, and a micro-USB port.

Talking about the current foldable smartphone Samsung is rumoured to be working, the handset could be released as the world’s first true foldable offering. The handset is said to arrive with a 7.3-inch flexible screen, which reduces to a 4.5-inch display panel in the foldable state. The rumour mill also indicates that Samsung’s foldable smartphone could be priced over Rs 1,00,000 lakh. Since the company hasn’t officially confirmed about the phone, we advise you to take these leaks with a pinch of salt for now.
