Leaked schematics reveal a compact body for 6.5-inch Apple iPhone 2018
“Apple is expected to announce three models this year with an affordable 6.1-inch iPhone 2018 in tow with LCD display”
Last year, Cupertino-based tech giant Apple broke its pattern of launching two phones together and launched three smartphones – iPhone X (review), iPhone 8 (review) and iPhone 8 Plus (review). It seems that the brand will now stick to three models a year plan as it is expected to announce 5.8-inch OLED, 6.5-inch OLED, and 6.1-inch TFT LCD models this year. Expected to launch this fall, the bigger 6.5-inch model and the affordable 6.1-inch models have been spotted in leaked schematics.
The newest leaked schematics reveal that the upcoming 6.5-inch Apple iPhone 2018 will come in a body measuring 157.2 mm x 77.1 mm. Notably, this measurement is considerably smaller than the 158.4 mm x 78.1 mm chassis of the Apple iPhone 8 Plus. Further, the schematics reveal a vertical camera module on the rear panel, which was speculated to house triples cameras but now we know it’s the same setup as last year with an LED flash sandwiched in between. If the speculations are to be believed, all three iPhones this year are expected to come with the TrueDepth front camera, Face ID and a notch.
The leak also reveals the schematics for the 6.1-inch budget iPhone, which is expected to come with a TFT LCD display. As seen in the leaked schematics, the affordable iPhone 2018 is expected to come in a body measuring 147.12 mm x 71.52 mm. Naturally, it’s longer and wider than the iPhone 8, which measures 143.6 mm x 70.9 mm. Moreover, the leaked image reveals that this variant will come with a single camera module on the rear panel with LED flash. Moreover, the affordable iPhone will lose out on the 3D touch as well. However, rest of the design is same as last year including the position of speaker grille, lightning port, notification slider, volume buttons, power button and SIM slot.
These smartphones are expected to be powered by next-generation 7nm A12 processor and iOS 12 out of the box. Apple will launch these phones in September this year, as usual. We will bring you more updates as and when they turn up, so stay tuned.
