“The all-new Lenovo Y530 and Y730 are premium gaming laptops with subdued looks”
Lenovo announced its Legion series of gaming laptops last year at CES 2017, which was then launched in India later in May 2017. Now, the Chinese brand has updated the series with three new models – Lenovo Y530, Lenovo Y730, and Lenovo Y7000. According to the brand, these laptops are designed to perform like high-end gaming devices but have the aesthetics of a business laptop.
Both Lenovo Y530 and Y730 come with a 15-inch IPS display with 144hz refresh rate and HD screen resolution. The Y730 gets another variant with a 17-inch display. The displays are nearly bezel-less this time around and as such, the webcam has been placed below the display. Speaking of the performance, the Y530 has NVIDIA GTX 1050 graphics and an Intel Core i5 CPU ticking at its core. The Y730, on the other hand, gets Intel’s 8th-gen Coffee Lake chipsets – Core i5 or Core i7, depending on the variant. Lenovo claims that the keyboard on these laptops are designed to offer under 1ms response time.
Speaking of the keyboard, the brand claims that the one on these laptops offers under 1ms response time. Further, the Y730 is the industry first to come with a customisable Corsair iCUE RGB backlit keyboard. The high-end model is also the world’s first gaming laptop to bring Dolby Atmos speakers and Dolby Sound Radar to the table. The Y530, on the other hand, comes with support for the Dolby Audio. Lenovo has also equipped these laptops with dual-fan cooling system with larger blades, which the brand claims can keep the laptops 10 percent cooler and offers 16 percent more airflow. There is an extended bar behind the display hinge housing connectivity ports including USB-C ports, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, Ethernet, and a USB-A 3.1 port.
Lastly, the Y7000 is simply the US-exclusive variant of the Y530 and is priced slightly higher at $950 (~Rs 64,000). The Y530 starts at $930 (~Rs 62,700), whereas the Y730 will set you back by $1,180 (~Rs 79,500) for 15-inch model and $1,250 (~Rs 84,200) for the 17-inch variant. Lenovo has announced that these handsets will be released for sale in August 2018.
