Lenovo ThinkPad P52 with integrated VR support and up to 128GB RAM launched

Lenovo recently expanded its ThinkPad series of performance laptops with a new 15.6-inch computer at the NXT BLD conference. This new laptop is dubbed ThinkPad P52 and marks several firsts for the brand such as being the first VR-ready compact mobile workstation, up to 128GB RAM and new Intel hexa-core processors. Lenovo announced that the P52 is intended for developers and designers.

Coming to the highlight of the laptop, Lenovo is offering it in two display versions – 15.6-inch full HD and 15.6-inch 4K. The former offers 300nits brightness with 72 percent colour gamut, whereas the latter comes with 400nits brightness, 100 percent NTSC gamut and AdobeRGB support. As for the performance, Lenovo has equipped the ThinkPad P52 with newest 8th-gen Intel hexa-core processors including Intel Xeon chipset. As for the graphics, the P52 gets new Nvidia Quadro P3200 based on the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060. On to the RAM and storage configurations, users get an option of up to 128GB DDR4 RAM and up to 6TB of native storage.

For connectivity, the ThinkPad P52 offers three USB 3.1 ports, two USB Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.0, a mini DisplayPort 1.4, and SD card reader. The laptop also has Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and optional Cat 9 4G LTE support. On the software front, Lenovo is offering the P52 with five choices to pick from – Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Home, Ubuntu, and Red Hat Linux. The laptop gets an infrared camera to facilitate facial recognition through Windows Hello and an additional HD camera for video calling or streaming. The ThinkPad P52 measures 377mm x 252mm x 25mm and weighs 2.5kgs.

Lenovo is offering the new laptop in a single basic black hue and it is expected to be made available in late June. As for the pricing, it starts at $1,199, which is roughly Rs 81,000.
