“The Motorola Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play are the debut 18:9 display handsets in the G-series by the brand”
Lenovo-owned, US-based brand Motorola launched its Moto G6, G6 Plus, and Moto G6 Play smartphones in Brazil last month. The brand then sent out media invites confirming that Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play will land in India on June 4th. Today, as expected, the handset maker has launched these handsets in the sub-continent. Notably, these handsets mark the debut of Moto G-series in the 18:9 arena and come with a premium glass-sandwich design.
Speaking of the Moto G6 first, the smartphone ships with 5.7-inch IPS LCD display bearing full HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. As for the performance, the handset is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Snapdragon 450 processor accompanied by Adreno 506 graphics processing unit. Motorola is offering the smartphone in two variants – 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB, both with support for microSD card up to 128GB. For imaging, there is a 12MP + 5MP setup on the rear panel and 16MP selfie shooter, both accompanied by a LED flash. The Moto G6 boots the stock Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower charging support. There is a fingerprint scanner on the front for security.
These handsets come with Motorola’s Smart Camera, which can recognise faces, scenes and even text. However, Motorola has announced that an update will be rolled out soon, which will bring Google Lens integration to the latest launches.
Coming to the more affordable of the two, the Moto G6 Play comes with a 5.7-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It gets a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor ticking at its core. There’s 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage backing the processor. As for the imaging, the handset gets a single 13MP camera on the rear panel and an 8MP selfie camera with LED flash. The handset boots the same software as Moto G6 but offers a bigger 4,000mAh battery. Also, the fingerprint scanner is embedded in the batwing logo at the back in the case of Moto G6 Play.
Motorola is offering both these smartphones in four hues – Sterling Blue, Indigo Blue, Fine Gold, and Silver. The Moto G6 will set you back by Rs 13,999 for the 3GB variant and the high-end model will cost Rs 15,999. The Moto G6 Play, on the other hand, comes with a sticker price of Rs 11,999. The Moto G6 and G6 Play will go on sale in India starting tonight on Amazon India and Flipkart, respectively. They will also be up for grabs at Motorola’s Moto Hubs across the country.
