“The Vivo Nex is speculated to be the rebranded Vivo Apex that was showcased at the MWC 2018”

Vivo showcased its APEX concept phone at MWC 2018 with all display fascia and retractable selfie camera. The handset was expected to go into production later this year. However, the brand sped up and announced that the device could launch the phone at an event in Shanghai on June 12th. There were several reports that the smartphone could be launched as Vivo NEX. Today, the handset maker has sent out a teaser image on Weibo confirming its June 12 launch and the NEX moniker.

According to the teaser image shared by the brand, the NEX is expected to come with a breakthrough technology. Considering that the NEX is speculated to be the rebranded APEX, we can safely assume the technology to be the half-screen fingerprint reader and 91 percent screen to body ratio. The render in the image corroborates it, as it shows a bezel-less handset with an under-display fingerprint logo on it. Apart from the date, the text on the teaser image reads, ‘What is NEX’. Unfortunately, no further details have been revealed by the brand in the teaser.

Further, the NEX S is speculated to come with the selfie camera perched on the chin in the right corner. The premium Vivo NEX will flaunt the retractable selfie camera as seen on the APEX.
