Vivo V9’s new variant with 6GB of RAM and Snapdragon 660 SoC launched
“Earlier, the company launched the Vivo V9 with 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 626 processor”
This March, Vivo introduced its latest V series smartphone dubbed the V9 (review) in Thailand. Soon after, the company launched the handset in the Indian market. The phone arrived with a Snapdragon 626 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a dual 16MP + 5MP camera setup at the rear. Now, the brand has introduced a new variant of the Vivo V9 with an upgraded processor, higher RAM, and downgraded cameras, as compared to the earlier model.
The new Vivo V9 variant comes with 6GB of RAM and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. The new model gets a 13-megapixel primary setup at the rear, aided by a 2-megapixel secondary shooter. For selfies, there’s a 12-megapixel sensor, as compared to a 24-megapixel shooter on the Vivo V9’s earlier model.
Apart from the processor, RAM, and camera features, the rest of the specs of the new Vivo V9 variant are the same as its predecessor. The phone sports a glass-sandwich design with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The handset gets a 6.3-inch notched display with full HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Software-wise, the device runs Funtouch OS 4.0 that’s based on Android 8.1 Oreo, and offers AI-based face unlock. The other specs include 64GB of expandable storage, 4G LTE, and a 3,260mAh battery.
The new 6GB RAM variant of the Vivo V9 has been priced at IDR 42,99,000 (~Rs 20,600). The phone comes in black and red hues, and will be available in Indonesia starting July 4th. There’s no word when the brand is planning to launch the handset in other markets at the moment.
