Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro launch on June 25th: here’s what to expect

“The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro is expected to be the first Redmi smartphone with a display notch”

Xiaomi just announced through its official Mi Pad Weibo account, that its upcoming Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 will be launched on June 25th. The brand then took to its Redmi Mobile account on the same platform to reveal that the Redmi 6 Pro will arrive on the same date alongside the new generation tablet. The official teaser image shared by the brand reveals some of the key features of the upcoming smartphone. If you are wondering what all the Redmi 6 Pro has got in stock, we got you covered. Here is everything we know about the upcoming smartphone at this juncture.

Design and display

Xiaomi 6 Pro TENAA

One of the key revelations in the teaser image shared by the brand was the 19/9 digits on top. This hints towards the taller 19:9 aspect ratio, which is usually used to accommodate the display notch on the top. We have already seen the alleged renders of the handset in the recent TENAA listing, which showed the notch housing the front camera, earpiece and the sensors. Despite the taller aspect ratio and the display notch, the alleged renders hinted at sizeable bezels on all sides so we’re not expecting an impressive screen-to-body ratio on the upcoming smartphone. As for the design, the smartphone was seen flaunting a metallic unibody chassis with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and dual camera module.

Moving on to the display, as per the TENAA listing, the Redmi 6 Pro is likely to come with 5.84-inch display bearing a screen resolution of 2,280 x 1,080 pixels.

Performance and hardware

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro teaser

As for the performance, Xiaomi’s latest teaser image has the number ‘625′ on it. This hints at the probability that the upcoming smartphone might come with the 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset accompanied by Adreno 506 GPU at its core. The 14nm die size of the chipset offers a fine balance between performance and battery efficiency, so we can expect the performance on the Redmi 6 Pro to be quite optimised. Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi 6 Pro in three configurations – 2GB + 16GB, 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB. The Xiaomi teaser also reveals AI integration, however, it is not known at this juncture whether it will be integrated across the board or just in cameras.

On the software front, the Redmi 6 pro is expected to boot the latest MIUI 10 interface based on the Android 8.1 Oreo.

Camera and battery

Coming to the imaging department, the AI in the teaser can possibly be the AI integration in the cameras. This means we can expect features like auto scene detection and beauty mode in the upcoming handset. As for the actual cameras, the Redmi 6 Pro has been seen flaunting a vertical dual camera module similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. However, at this point, the only detail known is that the primary sensor is likely to be a 12MP sensor. As for selfies, the Redmi 6 Pro is expected to come with a 5MP shooter on the front panel.

Xiaomi has also revealed in the latest teaser that the upcoming phone will come with a beefy 4,000mAh battery.

At this juncture, this is all we know about the upcoming Redmi 6 Pro and from the looks of it, the phone seems to be one of the most impressive Redmi devices to come. We will bring you more updates regarding the price and availability on June 25th, when the brand announces them. Stay tuned!
