Xiaomi’s upcoming selfie-centric phone to be an Amazon exclusive in India

Xiaomi has been teasing the launch of a new smartphone in India at its forthcoming event on June 7th. As par the brand’s teasers, it will be introducing a new selfie-centric device in the country next week. While we don’t know which phone Xiaomi will be launching, previous reports have indicated that the company will be launching a successor to its Redmi Y1 in the country on June 7th. In the meantime, Amazon India has confirmed that Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone will be available exclusively on its platform.

Xiaomi hasn’t revealed the name of the smartphone (s) to be unveiled at its upcoming June 7th event in India at the moment. However, the brand has revealed that it will be a selfie-centric smartphone with a 16-megapixel artificial intelligence-powered camera. Also, it is confirmed that the device will feature a dual camera setup at the rear. The handset (s) is expected to succeed the Redmi Y1, and come with improved features as compared to its predecessor.

To recap, the Xiaomi Y1 was launched in India last year as the brand’s first smartphone with a focus on selfies. The handset flaunts a 16MP selfie shooter with a dedicated LED-flash unit. The phone is available in the country at a starting price of Rs 8,999.
