Huawei launched its new high-end Nova series smartphones – Nova 3 (review) and 3i in its home soil, earlier this month. While the Nova 3 is a high-end offering, the Nova 3i is a similar-looking but a toned-down variant of its sibling. The brand has now gone ahead and launched both these smartphones in India recently. If you are wondering how these two smartphones differ, then here’s a comparison between the Huawei Nova 3 and 3i.
Huawei Nova 3 vs Nova 3i: what’s different

At the first glance, both smartphones look identical but it’s what’s inside that separates them. The Huawei Nova 3 comes powered by the top-tier HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset. The processor is backed by Mali-G72 GPU and features a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI-based features. The Nova 3i on the other hand, is powered by the latest HiSilicon Kirin 710 chipset from the brand. The 12nm SoC is backed by Mali-G51 MP4. While the Nova 3 ships with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage, the Nova 3i offers 4GB RAM and 128GB memory onboard.

The next major difference between these two smartphones is in terms of imaging, even though both have quad cameras. The Huawei Nova 3 flaunts a 16-megapixel camera accompanied by a 24-megapixel secondary shooter, both with f/1.8 aperture. On the contrary, the Nova 3i boasts the same primary camera but is clubbed with a 2MP snapper.
Lastly, the handsets differ in their battery capacities as the Nova 3 and Huawei Nova 3i are equipped with 3,750mAh and 3,340mAh cells, respectively.

To begin with, both the Huawei Nova 3 and 3i flaunt a 6.3-inch LTPS display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels. The notch above the display also houses an identical 24-megapixel + 2-megapixel setup on both smartphones.
In the software department too, they both boot EMUI 8.2 based Android Oreo out of the box and include a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. The Nova 3 and 3i also share the connectivity options including 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2 LE, and GPS.
Price and availability
