Lava feature phones to come with Airtel’s unlimited calling benefits

Lava and Airtel have collaborated to launch ‘My New Feature Phone’ offer in India to take on the JioPhone (first impressions). As part of the offer, Airtel customers — both old and new — can avail unlimited call benefits to any network with their new Lava feature phones. However, there’s a catch here; users need to do a one-time recharge of Rs 597 to enjoy the scheme for six months. 

If we break down the amount, it will be Rs 99 per month for STD / local calls across the country. The offer is valid on all Lava feature phones; therefore it is likely you won’t be getting any data benefits. At the moment, it’s also unclear whether the telco will be offering free SMSes as well as part of the offer.

Unlike the JioPhone, the Lava feature phones will have support for unlocked dual-SIM card slots. This means that the handsets will be compatible with all telecom operator’s services, and apart from Airtel, users can also use another SIM simultaneously. The Lava and Airtel offer is applicable from July 21st onwards throughout the country.
