MEIZU X8’s leaked screenshot reveals Snapdragon 710 SoC and Android 8.1 Oreo

“The MEIZU X8 will mark the debut of brand’s latest X-series of smartphones”

MEIZU’s founder, Jack Wong has been revealing details about upcoming smartphones on the company’s community forum lately. The top executive recently confirmed that the brand is working on a new mid-range smartphone called the MEIZU X8. Wong also went on to say that the upcoming X8 is expected to be better than the newly launched Xiaomi Mi 8 SE (in pictures). Now, a new leaked image has appeared on the Chinese social network, revealing the key specs of the smartphone.

MEIZU X8

The leaked image is the screenshot of the ‘About Phone’ section of the settings on the phone. In the image, we can see that the upcoming smartphone will come powered by the latest Snapdragon 710 chipset, which also powers the aforementioned Mi 8 SE. Further, we can see that the smartphone will boot Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. In the image, we also get a glimpse of the front panel of the handset with minimal bezels all around. It seems that the handset will come sporting a wide display notch and a minimal chin at the bottom. Unfortunately, nothing else is revealed in the leaked image.

MEIZU 16 leaked image

Earlier, a mysterious MEIZU smartphone with model number M816Q was spotted on the Chinese regulatory website, and it was expected to be the X8. The smartphone is expected to be a mid-range device and if Wong’s claim of it being better Mi 8 SE is true we can expect a bump in the spec sheet. Moreover, rumours have it that the MEIZU X8 will not feature the in-display fingerprint sensor, which is expected to be used on Meizu 16 and 16 Plus flagship devices. An earlier rumour also suggested that the handset might come with 20-megapixel dual camera setup on the back and boot Android Oreo.

Wong has also revealed that the MEIZU X8 will be priced under RMB 2,000 (Rs 20,300). However, there is no word on when the smartphone will be launched.
