Samsung to reportedly discontinue Galaxy J-series for Galaxy P and Galaxy R lineups
“The Galaxy P and Galaxy R could be Samsung’s new mid-range lineup”
Earlier there were reports that Samsung might discontinue its Note-series and the Galaxy Note 9 could be the last handset of its kind. While the news is under validation, a new rumour claims that the company might overhaul its mid-range lineup to make way for the all-new Galaxy P and Galaxy R-series smartphones. The tip came from Chinese leakster @MMDDJ_ who claims that Samsung is likely to do away with the existing Galaxy J, Galaxy C, and the Galaxy On series.
Samsung is yet to comment on the development, and it seems unclear whether the decision applies to all markets or selected regions. As far as India is concerned, the South Korean major is enjoying a raging success, especially with its newly announced Galaxy J-series phones. The latest Counterpoint report indicates that in Q2 2018 Samsung rose to number one position in India’s smartphone market, and the success is largely attributed to the Galaxy J6 (review) phone that accounts 5 percent share in the market.
With that data in the backdrop, it seems highly unlikely that Samsung will discontinue the lineup. We’ll bring you more updates as and when they emerge, so stay tuned.
