Samsung’s Android Go smartphone Galaxy J2 Core gets FCC certification
“Samsung Galaxy J2 Core will be a budget smartphone.”
Samsung’s Android Go phone, allegedly dubbed as the Galaxy J2 Core, is on the verge of becoming a reality. The budget phone from the South Korean major received its FCC in the US today, which means it could be launched anytime soon.
On the certification’s listing, the Galaxy J2 Core was spotted with four different model numbers: SM-J260G, SM-J260G/DS, SM-J260Y, and SM-J260Y/DS. Unfortunately, the leak didn’t divulge any major details except for the various LTE bands that the phones support and a dedicated microSD card slot.

The major highlight of the Galaxy J2 Core is going to be its OS, the Android Go – a lightweight version of Google’s 8.0 Oreo. However, it won’t be a stock-Android phone; instead, Samsung will employ its Experience UI on top.
If past leaks are anything to go by, the Galaxy J2 Core will come with the most basic specifications. The phone will feature a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with 16:9 aspect ratio, and a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 7570 processor, paired with 1GB of RAM. The storage onboard is an expandable 16GB, whereas the battery is 2600mAh. In terms of cameras, the leak suggests it would be an 8MP sensor on the rear and 5MP on the front.
Samsung is yet to announce the official launch date, price, and availability of its first Android Go phone. The phone will initially go for sale in western countries like the US and Europe, followed by other regions, like India, in the later stage.
