Samsung’s Galaxy S10 flagships might come with tri-cluster architecture-based Exynos 9820 processor

“The new Exynos 9820 chipset is tipped to come with 2+2+4 architecture”

Samsung’s current flagships, the S9 (review) and S9+ (review), come powered by the brand’s in-house Exynos 9810 chipset in certain regions. Now, if the latest leak from Ice Universe is to be believed, the brand has already started working on the next-gen processor – Exynos 9820. According to the leakster, the upcoming SoC from the brand will be utilising tri-cluster architecture with 2+2+4 cores based on ARM’s DynamIQ technology.

As per the leak, the Exynos 9820 chipset will have two custom Mongoose M4 cores and two high-performance Cortex-A76 or Cortex-A75 cores. These four cores will be further accompanied by four Cortex-A55 cores, which are known for their power efficiency. While the clock speed of the forthcoming silicon isn’t revealed, it’s being speculated that Samsung is likely to use the latest and greatest Cortex-A76, which can deliver clock speeds of up to 3.30GHz. Further, there are reports that Samsung might utilise ARM’s Mali-G76 MP18 GPU with the Exynos 9820, which was announced earlier in May this year. The Mali-G76 graphics engine comes with 18 cores and promises up to 30 percent performance boost as compared to its predecessor. Since the Exynos 9810 powered this year’s Galaxy S series flagships, it’s safe to assume that the next year’s S10 lineup will utilise the Exynos 9820.

Speaking of the Galaxy S10 smartphones, Samsung is expected to launch three variants this year, which are codenamed Beyond 0, Beyond 1 and Beyond 2. While the Beyond 0 is expected to be base Galaxy S10 variant, the other two are speculated to be two models of Galaxy S10+. The Beyond 0 is expected to come with a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with non-curved edges and dual camera module on the back. The Beyond 1 is likely to ship with the same display but with triple camera module on the back. The Beyond 2 is rumoured to be the high-end version with a bigger 6.2-inch display, triple-rear camera module, dual-selfie shooters and an under-display fingerprint scanner.

The brand is expected to launch the Galaxy S10 trio next year, but we hope to see more rumours and leaks as we get closer to their launch.
