Xiaomi’s Mi A2, the possible successor to the Mi A1 (review), has hit the news again. The latest report from the rumour mill suggests that the phone will arrive with more than one configuration and color options. Although the company is yet to reveal the official launch date for the Mi A2, early speculations reveal the smartphone could hit the shelves as early as July 25 in Spain.
As per the sources, the Xiaomi Mi A2 will come in multiple RAM and storage options. The base model of the smartphone will reportedly ship with 4GB RAM which will be clubbed with either 32GB, 64GB or 128GB of storage, depending upon which variant a buyer opts for. The top-variant of Mi A2 will feature 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Moreover, all these variants are said to come in three color options including Blue, Gold, and Black.
In contrast, the Xiaomi Mi A1 utilized 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage and was available for sale in black, gold, rose gold, and red colour options.
Coming back to Mi A2, the smartphone is allegedly is going to be the second stock-Android phone from the company’s stables. The phone will share the same specifications as its Chinese sibling, the Mi 6X, which was launched earlier this year. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the Mi A2 will flaunt a full-metal unibody design and a 5.99-inch FullHD+ 18:9 display on the front.
Moreover, the smartphone is likely to rock the Snapdragon 660 SoC, house a 3,010mAh battery and feature a USB Type-C port capable of fast charging. For photography, the Mi A2 comes equipped with a dual-camera setup at the back, comprising a pair of 12MP + 20MP sensors. For selfies, the handset features a 20-megapixel shooter on the front.
Sources claim that the Mi A2 will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The handset is expected to get the upcoming Android P and Q updates and timely Android security patches as well.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 is expected to be priced at around Rs 15,000 for the base variant, which could go all the way up to Rs 21,000 for the top-specced model. Since the information is nothing but leaks and speculations at this point, we’d advise you to take it with a pinch of salt.
