“The Mi A2 Lite is a scaled-down variant of the A2 and comes with a beefy 4,000mAh battery”
As rumoured, Xiaomi also announced the Mi A2 Lite alongside the Mi A2, at the launch event in Spain, Madrid. Similar to its sibling, the phone runs Android One, and is entitled to major software updates as well as timely security patches from Google. The key highlights of the Mi A2 Lite include a notch display, dual rear cameras and a powerful battery.
Talking about the specifications, the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite sports a 5.84-inch full HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a cut-out up top. At its core, the smartphone gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. The handset is available in two variants of 3GB RAM + 32GB storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. In the camera department, the Mi A2 Lite borrows the 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera module from the Redmi Note 5 Pro (review). As for selfies, the handset comes with a 5MP shooter. The cameras are backed by AI and also comes with Google Lens support to identify things in the real life.
The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The phone houses a beefy 4,000mAh battery that has a dual pyrolytic sheet to keep the temperature down by 2-degrees Celsius. The fingerprint sensor is on the rear panel. Connectivity options on the handset comprise 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, and GPS.
Xiaomi’s Mi A2 Lite will retail at €179 (~Rs 15,000) for its 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant and €229 (~Rs ) for the higher-end model. The smartphone will initially go for sale in France starting August 10 onwards, followed by global retail stores. Strangely enough, the brand didn’t mention India among the launch markets, so it remains to be seen if the handset makes its way to our shores.
