Xiaomi Mi A2 to flaunt Quick Charge 4.0 technology exclusively in India
“In markets other than India, the Mi A2 will feature Quick Charge 3.0 technology”
Xiaomi recently announced its latest Android One series smartphone dubbed the Mi A2 (first impression) at a press gathering in Madrid, Spain. The phone arrived as a successor to the last year’s Mi A1 (review), and brings several incremental upgrades over its predecessor. The company is all set to launch the Mi A2 in India on August 8th. Ahead of the launch, the brand has revealed a few interesting tidbits about the Indian variant of the Mi A2.
Xiaomi has revealed that the Xiaomi Mi A2 will come with support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology exclusively in India, making it first such device in the country. Interestingly, the variants of the device in Europe and other markets will only offer Quick Charge 3.0 tech. However, the news is not all sweet as the Chinese OEM won’t be shipping a QC 4.0 or 3.0-compatible charger with the smartphone. Instead, you will get a standard 10W charger.
So those interested in faster-charging speeds on their Xiaomi Mi A2, they will have to separately purchase a QC 4.0-compatible charger. Its worth mentioning that Qualcomm-certified Quick Charge 4.0-supported chargers are not available in India at the moment. However, you can purchase one from foreign e-commerce portals like Alibaba, and get it shipped in the country.
Coming to other details, the Xiaomi Mi A2 will be available in India in an additional Rose Gold colour variant, apart from Black, Blue, and Gold hues that were announced in Spain. In addition, reports suggest that Xiaomi will not be launching the 4GB RAM + 32GB variant of the phone in India. Only, the 4GB RAM + 64GB model is rumoured to land in the country at the moment.
Talking about the Xiaomi Mi A2 specs, the Android One offering boots stock version of Android Oreo out of the box. The phone features a 5.84-inch full HD+ 18:9 display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. The other specs include a dual 12MP + 20MP primary camera module at the rear, a 20MP front snapper, a fingerprint reader, face unlock, 4G LTE, and a 3,010mAh battery.
There’s no word regarding the Mi A2’s price in India at the moment. However, we wouldn’t have to wait for too long, as the device is landing in the country in a matter of days i.e. August 8th. We will be at the event to bring you all the details about the phone for India, so stay tuned to 91mobiles for latest updates.
