Xiaomi Mi A2 with 18:9 display and dual camera module spotted in alleged official renders
“The Xiaomi Mi A2 is slated to go official at a global product launch event in Spain on July 24th, with Mi A2 Lite in tow”
Xiaomi’s upcoming Android One smartphone, Mi A2 has been in news a lot thanks to numerous leaks and speculations in the recent past. Xiaomi recently scheduled a global product launch event on July 24th in Spain and it is being speculated that the Mi A2 might see the light of the day at the event. Now, ahead of the official launch of the handset, several official looking images of the handset and alleged specs have been leaked by noted leakster, Slashleaks.
In the new leaked images, we can see that the upcoming Mi A2 will feature the same metal unibody design with a tall display as the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The rear panel of the handset is seen housing the same vertically stacked dual camera module with LED flash sandwiched in the center. We can also see the Android One mark on the lower half of the rear panel. Further, the front panel is seen housing the 18:9 display with sizeable bezels on top and bottom. However, upon closer inspection, the upcoming smartphone seems to have more rounded corners as compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. We can also see the smartphone running stock Android on the display.
Coming to the leaked specs, the Mi A2 is expected to come with a 5.99-inch display with a screen resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels. The performance of the handset is likely to be driven by the Snapdragon 660 backed by 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage. In the imaging department, the smartphone is expected to offer a 20MP + 12MP rear camera module and 20MP front shooter. Lastly, the leak hints that the smartphone will come powered by a 3,000mAh battery.
In yet another leak from a Polish website, it has been revealed that the Mi A2 might be accompanied by a toned down-variant – Mi A2 Lite. This smartphone is expected to come with the same spec sheet but with a smaller display, lower-powered processor, toned down camera module and more powerful battery. It is being speculated that the Mi A2 Lite will feature a 5.84-inch display, 12MP + 5 MP camera module, Snapdragon 625 and a 4,000mAh battery. However, we suggest taking this bit of information with a grain of salt.
The Polish source also reveals pricing of both these smartphones. According to the source, the Mi A2 will come in three variants – 4GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB. These variants will set you back by $350 (~Rs 24,000), $377 (~Rs 25,800) and $430 (~Rs 29,400), respectively. The Mi A2 Lite is likely to retail for $283 (~Rs 19,300). This pricing looks sketchy since Mi A series is intended to be the more affordable line-up. We will bring you more accurate details when the brand announces them, so stay tuned.
