“The Realme 2 is expected to alleviate some of the biggest gripes we had with its predecessor”

Just last month, Realme spun-off from its parent brand OPPO to cater to the millennial audience. And now, in an exclusive interaction with the company’s CEO Madhav Sheth, 91mobiles has learned that the company will be launching a new handset soon. Its first offering as an independent entity and second smartphone after the Realme 1 (review) will aptly be dubbed the Realme 2 and will launch within a month. Aptly dubbed the Realme 2, the handset will be priced affordably under Rs 15k.

While Sheth didn’t reveal the specs of the upcoming handset, he did mention that the Realme 2 is set to alleviate some of the biggest gripes we had with its predecessor. This includes a fingerprint scanner at the back and improved camera performance with the use of dual shooters. Just like the Realme 1, its successor will be powered by a MediaTek chipset.

Interestingly, Sheth also divulged the fact that the brand is planning three to four launches in the FY 2018-19. He however, reiterated the fact that Realme will play in the affordable territory, with all its smartphones priced between Rs 5,000 and 20,000.

For imaging, the handset features a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter. The phone is available in three variants of 3GB RAM, 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM, which ship with 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage, respectively. A 3,410mAh battery fuels the package. The pricing of the Realme 1 starts at Rs 8,999 and goes all the way up to Rs 14,999.
