OPPO R17 Pro with Snapdragon 710 SoC and 8GB of RAM allegedly spotted on Geekbench

“The R17 Pro is expected to come with triple-rear cameras and an in-display fingerprint sensor”

OPPO, yesterday, launched its new R-series smartphone dubbed the OPPO R17 in China. It turned out to be the brand’s first handset to boast of an in-display fingerprint sensor. Moreover, the smartphone also equips the latest Snapdragon 670 chipset, Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and a really tiny notch. It seems like OPPO is now planning to bring a ‘Pro’ model of the R17. After a poster of the alleged OPPO R17 Pro surfaced on the interwebs, the smartphone is said to have popped up on the Geekbench site with model number OPPO PBEM00.

The Geekbench listing further revealed that the handset comes powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC, 8GB of RAM and Android 8.1 Oreo OS. The smartphone managed to score 1,711 points in the single-core test and 5,811 points in the multi-core test. Unfortunately, it hasn’t revealed much information about OPPO’s rumoured R17 Pro smartphone.

However, OPPO has confirmed on Weibo that its R17 Pro smartphone will have variable apertures between the f/1.7 and f/2.4, similar to the ones you saw on the Galaxy S9 (review). Meanwhile, there are reports that the handset could feature triple rear cameras, where the third sensor could be a zoom lens. Apart from that, everything else on OPPO R17 Pro is expected to be the same as its sibling, including the end-to-end display.

To recall, the OPPO R17 sports a 6.4-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and 91.5 percent screen to body ratio. It features a dual camera setup on the rear and a 25-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies and video calling. Powering the handset is a 3,500mAh battery with VOOC fast charging support. It comes pre-loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.2 and connectivity options like 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

The OPPO R17 will go for sale on August 18th in China, and the company is yet to announce its pricing.
