OPPO R17 with in-display fingerprint sensor and Snapdragon 670 SoC goes official

OPPO has unleashed a new smartphone, dubbed the R17, that will retail from August 18th in China. Interestingly, its specifications turn-out to be the same as they were spotted in a leak last week. The phone flaunts an all-display fascia with one of the tiniest notches for the selfie camera. Moreover, it sports an in-display fingerprint sensor, Gorilla Glass 6 protection and the latest Qualcomm 10nm process Snapdragon 670 chipset under the hood.

The OPPO R17 features a nearly bezel-less 6.4-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ display and 91.5 percent screen to body ratio. Under the display, there is a 4 sq/mm big fingerprint sensor at the bottom half with 3P Micro Lens to optically register user’s biometrics. Moving on, the smartphone’s SD 670 SoC is backed by 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage space. For selfies, it employs a 25-megapixel sensor on the front with f/2.0 aperture lens. OPPO hasn’t revealed the dual-rear combos but it says the sensors are AI-powered and can detect up to 800 scenes to enhance results.

The OPPO R17 houses a 3,500mAh battery that can juice up pretty fast thanks to the VOOC fast charging support. And, it comes pre-loaded with Color OS 5.2 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. Connectivity options comprise of 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type-C support.
As mentioned above, OPPO R17 will go for sale on August 18th, and its price is likely to be announced then. The smartphone can be purchased in two colours – Stream Blue or Neon Purple.
