OPPO rolls out invite for event on August 21st in India, could announce F9 Pro

If everything goes by plan, the OPPO F9 Pro smartphone could launch in India on August 21st. The brand has scheduled an event for the day for which it has started rolling out the press invites, but sadly OPPO hasn’t highlighted which product is coming. However, OPPO has been teasing its new F-series phone for a while now, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it is the F9 Pro. The handset is touted to come with an Essential Phone-like notch display for which OPPO has coined a new term – ‘Waterdrop’, and VOOC flash charging support.

The specifications of the OPPO F9 Pro are not out yet, but they are to be the same as its sibling – the F9 – whose soft launch was done in Vietnam, yesterday. There the handset sports a 6.3-inch display with FHD+ resolution. Since the F9 display flaunts a tiny cut-out on top, it will definitely come with a high screen to body ratio. It is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The phone offers a dedicated microSD card slot to further expand the storage up to 256GB. 

In the camera department, the F9 features a dual 16MP + 2MP sensors on the rear with f/1.85 aperture and LED flash. As for selfies, it employs a 25-megapixel sensor backed by AI to enhance the images. A custom Color OS 5.2 skin on top of Android and 3,500mAh battery completes the F9’s specs sheet.

The OPPO F9 price in Vietnam is priced at Rs 25,000; hence it is possible that the F9 Pro could retail for the same price in India. Moreover, OPPO’s teaser of the F9 Pro suggests that the phone could come with glass back, diamond-cut design, and colour options of Red Sunshine and Twilight blue.
