Samsung’s 2019 A series devices to offer triple rear cameras and in-display fingerprint sensors
“One of the variants of the Galaxy A-series 2019 phone could also feature an in-display fingerprint sensor”
As if dual-rear cameras were not enough, OEMs have started working on phones with triple camera setup on the rear. Most recently, Huawei launched its P20 Pro (review) with triple-rear cameras, and now, Samsung is prepping to adopt it in its lineup. After reports that the next-gen Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 smartphones could feature triple rear cameras, the Galaxy A-series has come into news for the same reason. According to ETNews, the successor of the Galaxy A8/ A8+ is expected to feature “super-wide angle” triple-lens camera on the rear panel.
The same source further states that the Galaxy A-series could also feature an optical/ in-display fingerprint sensor. Samsung is yet to use the technology on its smartphones, and the flagship Galaxy S10+ could be the first. While the latter is anticipated to come with an “ultrasonic” under the display fingerprint sensor, the mid-range A-series phone might flaunt less-advanced optical biometrics.
Looking at THE Samsung track-record, the project seems highly unlikely as the company likes to maintain a clear distinction between its mid-range and flagship phones. Meanwhile, an industry source talking to ETNews said that the brand is changing its strategy push the sales of its budget phones. He said, “Since the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Samsung has been cautious about adopting new technologies or parts from new suppliers. But it seems to be changing its strategic direction to strengthen the competitiveness of its budget phones further.”
That’s not all, Samsung could also make use of China-made hardware on its smartphones. This will eventually help the firm to keep its product’s price at an affordable line for the buyers.
