Xiaomi Mi 8’s 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant launched

In addition to the launch of the new Mi Pad 4 Plus tablet with a 10-inch display in China, Xiaomi has also announced a new variant of the Mi 8 (first impression) smartphone, today. The handset’s new model comes with 8GB of RAM and a fixed 128GB native space. To recall, the Mi 8 debuted launched with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB storage options back in May 2018. Apart from offering more memory, the rest of the specs are the same.

Interestingly, Xiaomi has priced the Mi 8’s 8GB RAM model at RMB 3,299 (~Rs 33,000), which is the same as the 6GB RAM and 256GB ROM variant of the phone. The handset is available for sale in China starting today and comes in blue and black colour options.
Talking about its specifications, Xiaomi ships the Mi 8 in a metal-glass unibody with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and an iPhone X-like notched display. The handset boasts of an infrared face unlock, a 6.21-inch display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio, and a high-end Snapdragon 845 SoC ticking at its core. For photography, the Mi 8 flaunts dual 12MP sensors on the rear panel with 4-axis OIS, dual Pixel autofocus, LED flash and a couple of AI features. For selfies, the Mi 8 gets a 20-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture lens, portrait mode and AI Beauty mode.

The smartphone runs Android Oreo-based MIUI 10 out of the box and is fueled by a 3,400mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology. Connectivity options include dual-band (L1-L5) GPS, 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, and USB Type-C.
