Xiaomi teases the launch of new smartphone sub-brand POCO; coming to India soon

“The POCOPHONE F1 is expected to be the first smartphone in the series”

Xiaomi‘s POCOPHONE has been in the news for quite some time, thanks to multiple leaks and rumours going around the interwebs. The brand’s upcoming handset is rumoured to come with the Snapdragon 845 chipset, liquid cooling system, and a powerful 4,000mAh battery. However, there was nothing official about the smartphone, yet. Until now that is. Today, Xiaomi’s lead product manager, Jai Mani, has officially confirmed about the fact that POCO is a sub-brand of Xiaomi.

In a tweet, Mani shared that he has been working on this project. He also mentioned official Twitter pages for India as well as global for the forthcoming POCOPHONE. Unfortunately, the handles have nothing to show as of now, but it does give a strong indication that smartphone(s) under POCO brand would be launched in the subcontinent as well.

In the meantime, a lot of rumours have been doing the rounds about possibly the first smartphone from the new entity, the POCOPHONE F1. If the leaks are anything to go by then the device is going to be powered by the powerful Snapdragon 845 processor. The phone is expected to sport a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio and AI-backed dual 12MP + 5MP cameras on the rear. The handset is said to be equipped with 6GB of RAM, 64GB storage and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It’s likely to come pre-loaded with Android Oreo-based MIUI 9.0.

As per a recent leak, the POCOPHONE F1 is expected to retail in India for Rs 30,000. Considering that the brand has been teased officially, we expect it to reveal more info about its debut offering over the coming days.
