OPPO A7X with waterdrop notch display and Helio P60 SoC leaked online

It has been a trend in the smartphone market that if something new comes up, handset makers take to it like a moth to fire. The same thing is now happening with what is being called waterdrop notch, which provides brands with an opportunity to pack in more screen estate in a device without having to invest in expensive tech like movable components. Recently, OPPO launched its OPPO F9 and F9 Pro (review) smartphones with the waterdrop display. Now, the Chinese handset maker seems to have another similar offering in the pipeline. The upcoming handset is allegedly called the OPPO A7X and it has been spotted online with its renders and specs sheet.

According to the leak, the OPPO A7X could be a lot similar to the OPPO F9. The smartphone is tipped to come with a 6.3-inch display featuring an FHD+ (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) screen resolution. In the performance department, the smartphone is said to offer the MediaTek Helio P60 chipset ticking at its core. The processor is further likely to be accompanied by 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage, which can be further expanded by inserting a microSD card. For security, the handset is tipped to sport a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock functionality. From the renders, we can see that the A7X will feature the same glass sandwich design with a diamond-like finish at the rear.

Coming to the camera department, the OPPO A7X is said to come with a dual 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel setup at the rear. As for selfies and video calling, the phone is speculated to come with a 16-megapixel shooter. Notably, the F9 comes with a 25-megapixel selfie shooter in comparison. In the software department, the leak reveals that the A7X could boot ColorOS based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. The smartphone is tipped to sport a 4,230mAh battery in the latest leak, which is bigger than the one on OPPO F9 (3,500mAh).

According to the leaked information, the OPPO A7X could be offered in two hues– Purple Gradient and Purple Black. The handset is said to set you back by RMB 2,099 (~Rs 22,000). We will bring you more updates when the handset goes official, so stay tuned.
