Realme to reportedly start selling its smartphones via offline stores soon

“Realme is allegedly planning to focus in the offline market to target users in tier-2 and tier-3 towns”

Emerging smartphone manufacturer Realme marked its debut in the market with the launch of the Realme 1 (review) in India earlier this year. Soon after, the manufacturer introduced its second offering called the Realme 2 (review) in the country. Soon after its foray, the company quickly grasped 1.4 percent market share in India. The brand claims to have sold two lakh units of the Realme 2 in just five minutes in the initial sale. Now, Realme is planning to focus on the offline market to strengthen its foothold in the country.

According to a report by The Economic Times, Realme may add an offline channel for distribution in India. The company is aiming to target consumers in tier-2 and tier-3 towns, apart from the rural areas to increase its market share in the country. Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India, told the publication that the manufacturer doesn’t have plans to keep it an online-only brand. “We can try two different channels. If we don’t have an offline channel, then it’s difficult for us to cater to this segment”, said the executive.

As of now, Realme is selling its handsets through its online channel – Amazon India and Flipkart. In the April-June quarter, the company reportedly accounted for 32 percent of smartphones sold in the country online. By adding an offline distribution channel, the brand is expecting to increase its smartphone market share in India.
