Several reports in the past few days have suggested that Xiaomi is working on a new smartphone called the Mi 8 Youth. The phone is expected to be a toned down variant of the Mi 8 flagship. Ahead of the unveiling, we’ve already seen a number of leaks and reports regarding the handset. Now, the company has scheduled a new event in its home market of China, where the brand is expected to unveil the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth.

Xiaomi will be hosting its upcoming event in the city of Chengdu, which is famous for its giant pandas. The company hasn’t provided a date for the launch event at the moment. If you look closely at the event invite, you can see a smartphone in the food pot. The handset in the image looks quite similar to the Mi 8 Youth, which was recently spotted on the Chinese certification agency TENAA’s website.

As far as the specs are concerned, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth is expected to sport a 6.26-inch FHD+ display, and boot MIUI-based on Android Oreo. The phone is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, aided by 6GB of RAM. The other rumoured specs include 64GB of expandable storage, a dual 12MP+5MP rear camera setup, a 24MP front shooter, and a 3,350mAh battery.
There’s no word regarding the Xiaomi Mi 8 Youth’s pricing and availability at the moment. We expect the company to reveal more details about the handset in the near future, so stay in touch.
