Apple streaming TV service to reportedly be launched next year globally

“The TV service is expected to be launched in the US first, and later in 100 other countries”

Apple is likely to launch its streaming TV service during the first half of 2019. As per a report by The Information, the service will be announced in the US and 100 other countries, but not necessarily at the same time. The report further revealed that the service will debut in the United States and become available in other regions in the following months. The streaming service from the Cupertino-based firm is said to be similar to other streaming television services such as Amazon Prime Videos and Netflix.

The information about Apple’s streaming service is scarce at the moment, but what we do know is that it could be free for the Apple device owners, including iPhone, iPad, and MacBook. It remains to be seen whether Apple will launch the streaming TV service with a separate standalone app or within the existing TV app.

Moreover, the company is reportedly negotiating with programmers about the pricing and license to stream their content on the platform. It’s likely that Apple might keep the service limited to its own devices and won’t cater to the Android/ Windows users. This may limit its ability to expand and compete aggressively against the likes of Amazon Prime Videos and Netflix. Both the streaming services are available as mobile apps, smart TV apps, and streaming set-up box apps for all users, irrespective of their UIs.

Anyway, we expect to learn more about Apple’s streaming TV services and its offerings in the coming days, so stay tuned.
