[Exclusive]: OPPO A83 (2018) variant with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage launched in India

The new variant of the OPPO A83 (2018) budget smartphone has been launched in India, with the company making it available via offline channels. The new OPPO A83 (2018)  variant comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, while the remaining specifications and features remain the same as the remaining two variants. The new variant will be positioned below the existing 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and 4GB RAM, 64GB storage options that are already available in the market. As for the OPPO A83 (2018) price in India for the new 2GB RAM, 16GB storage variant, buyers will have to shell out Rs 8,990 for the handset.

OPPO A83 (2018) sports a 5.7-inch HD+ (720 x 1,440 pixels) display and runs the Android 7.1 Nougat-based ColorOS 3.2 custom skin. It is powered by the 2.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6763T processor and graphics are handled by the Mali G71 GPU. On the back is a 13MP camera with LED flash, while the front has an 8MP sensor for selfies; both sensors have f/2.2 aperture.

The OPPO A83 (2018) smartphone has a dual-SIM (Nano SIM) setup and a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB, and USB OTG. Battery capacity of the smartphone is 3,180mAh. 

The new OPPO A83 (2018) 2GB RAM, 16GB storage variant loses out on a couple of features that its two siblings have. Firstly, it does not have Face Unlock. Secondly, it does not support the Ultra HD mode for capturing photos. This mode lets users capture and stitch together multiple images from the rear 13MP camera to create a 50MP photo.

This new OPPO A83 (2018) variant will compete with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 6, Realme 2, Samsung Galaxy J4, and Honor 7A, among others.
