Facebook rolls out music features, letting you add music to profiles and Stories

Facebook is rolling out two music-centric features today, that will make use of the company’s licensing partnership with major music labels. The new music features will be baked into stories, user profiles, and the Lip Sync Live feature.

Facebook will allow users to add music clips to their photos. You can choose the exact part of the song you want to add. Furthermore, Facebook will also let you choose from an array of stickers, including the ones with artist name and song name.

Additionally, Facebook is also adding the Lip Sync Live to its Pages. This allows creators to lip sync and connect with their fans in a much better way. The feature is pretty intuitive as you can add onscreen lyrics and this should add the much-needed karaoke effects to your Facebook update.

It’s worth mentioning that Instagram had launched a similar feature earlier this year. Facebook will also allow users to add songs to the music section. Users will also be able to select the songs manually and add them to their profile. Once again, the service lets you crop your favorite part of the tune and add it to your profile. People visiting your profile can add the songs directly to their profiles.

Facebook has been pushing the music into user profiles. It is for this reason that the social media platform has partnered with biggies like Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Publishing. With this partnering deal in force, musicians and songwriters will earn royalties from their work even when it is used in a user-generated video.
