Huawei Mate 20 series to launch in India in November

Earlier this month, Huawei launched its much-awaited line-up of flagship smartphones, the Mate 20 series. The line-included the usual Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, a gaming-centric Mate 20X and luxury Mate 20 RS Porsche Design. Later, the teaser page for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro went live on Amazon India, hinting that the smartphone launch is imminent in the country. Now, the brand has gone ahead and announced at the IMC that the smartphones will indeed be launching in the country next month.

At the ongoing IMC 2018, Huawei announced that it is aiming towards strengthening its premium smartphones range in the country. In this regards, the company is planning to bring the latest Mate 20 line to India. However, the phonemaker has refrained from revealing that which of the four smartphones will be landing at the Indian shores. As of now, only the Mate 20 Pro seems to be confirmed and it is not yet clear if we should expect another Mate 20 series model to launch alongside it. Notably, these smartphones flaunt a premium metal and glass sandwich design, beefy batteries, a triple camera system at the rear and are the first in the world to boot Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 out of the box.

To recap on the specs, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro ships with a 6.39-inch OLED display bearing a resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 pixels and gets an under-display fingerprint sensor, as well as a 3D face unlock module. At its core, the smartphone gets the latest in-house Kirin 980 SoC to drive the performance. The SoC is backed by two Neural Processing Unit unlike one on the last-generation Kirin 970. Huawei is offering the Mate 20 Pro in two RAM and storage configurations – 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB. The smartphone features 40MP + 20MP + 8MP setup on the back and a 25MP selfie shooter. The IP68-certified smartphone comes powered by a 4,200mAh battery with 40-watt power supply and also supports 18W wireless charging.

As of now, the Indian pricing of the handset is not known. However, in the UK, the smartphone starts from €1,049 (~Rs 89,000) for its base 6GB RAM variant and goes on sale starting November 16th.
