ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 rumour zone: what to expect
“If rumours are anything to go by, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 comes as a worthy successor to the ZenFone Max Pro M1”
The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 (review) has been a popular offering, all thanks to the class-leading feature like the mammoth 5,000mAh battery. That apart, the brand also seems to have gotten the pricing right with the handset. This time around, the Taiwanese has already confirmed the Max Pro M2 launch is set for December 11th in Indonesia and as always, the leaks and renders have kept trickling in. So let’s take a closer look at what all we can expect from the upcoming ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2.
Design and display
Thanks to the leaked renders, we now have an idea of how the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will look like. The leaks hint that the device will sport a 6.3-inch FHD+ display alongside the notch. Worth stating that the ZenFone Max Pro M1 didn’t come with a notch display. On the design front, the ZenFone Max M2 looks sleek and the bezel is now thinner.
Hardware
A recent leak has revealed that the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 will arrive with the following model number, ASUS_X01BD_1 / ZB631KL. The leak also pointed out that the ZenFone Max Pro M2 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, as opposed to the SD636 chip powering its predecessor. As far as variants are concerned, the M2 is likely to be offered in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants and 64GB and 128GB storage options.
The Play Console listing confirms most of the features, but hints at 6GB RAM as opposed to the previously leaked 4GB RAM. The ZenFone Max Pro M2 is also said to pack in a beefy 5,000mAh cell, just like its predecessor.
Cameras
As per rumours, the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is expected to feature a triple-camera setup at the rear. Sadly the leaks don’t divulge other details about the camera. However, the latest leak has also revealed that the smartphone will sport dual cameras in the form of 12MP + 5MP snappers on the back, so we’ll have to see if the upcoming handset indeed comes with a trio of shooters on the rear.
For selfies, the forthcoming ZenFone Max Pro M2 is tipped to feature a 13-megapixel camera.
Software
Thankfully ASUS seems to have stuck with the stock Android on the ZenFone Max Pro M2. That being said the device is said to come preloaded with Android 8.1 Oreo and maybe we will have to wait for a while until ASUS rolls out the Android Pie update.Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 pricing
ASUS is likely to price the base variant of the ZenFone Max Pro M2 between Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000. The ZenFone Max Pro M1 is currently retailing at Rs 10,999 and rules the roost in this price range.
