HTC U11 Life becomes the company’s first smartphone to get Android Pie

“The mid-ranger HTC U11 Life beats the premium U12+ in terms of getting the update”

HTC’s U11 Life has become the brand’s first smartphone to receive the Android 9 Pie update. According to posts shared by several Twitter users, the HTC U11 Life has already started to receive the latest Android Pie update in parts of Europe. The HTC U11 Life is an Android One device, so it actually makes sense that it would be the first among the U11 series to get Android Pie globally.

However, the US variant of the U11 Life that is sold by the T-Mobile features HTC’s Sense UI, which is perhaps why it has not yet received the update. It is also interesting to see that the U11 Life Android One model has been prioritised over its more premium sibling, HTC U12+, in terms of getting the update.

The Twitter posts reveal that the updates have apparently reached the global variant of the smartphones that have been launched under the Android One programme. Based on the screenshot shared by users, the update is provided with the October 2018 Android security patch. Also, the size of the update is 720.3MB, the screenshots show.

Although HTC did not confirm the update yet, it is notable that the U11 Life is a part of the same range that was promised in August to get the Android 9.0 update. Other devices in this range include HTC U11, U11+, and HTC U12+.

The HTC U11 Life was launched in November last year with Android Oreo out of the box. It is the flagship device from the brand that features a full-HD Super LCD display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. The U11 Life is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC octa-core processor assisted by 3GB and 4GB RAM variants having 32GB and 64GB storage options respectively.
