Huawei has introduced its flagship smartphones – the Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design – in India. The company has given a miss to the entry-level offering of Mate 20 series that was launched at the global event in October too and has brought here the Pro variant instead, which will compete against the likes of iPhone XS, Samsung Galaxy Note9, and Google Pixel 3 XL in the premium smartphone category. 

The Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 RS both pack some high-end features, including an in-display fingerprint sensor, a triple rear camera setup, reverse wireless charging, and latest Hisilicon Kirin 980 7nm chipset. While the Mate 20 Pro comes with a shiny glass sandwich design, the Mate 20 RS is a special luxury edition with Porsche Design logo and leather and glass strips at the back panel. That’s the sole difference between the two offerings.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro price in India

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro price in India has been kept as Rs 69,990 for the base 6GB + 128GB option. The handset is being offered in just one colour option, Twilight. The handset can be purchased from the e-commerce site Amazon.

Coming to the launch offers, the Mate 20 Pro can be purchased with Sennheiser headphone worth Rs 21,990 for Rs 71,990.

The Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design both sport a curved 6.39-inch AMOLED screen with a sleek notch up top to pack the selfie camera, hardware for 3D face unlock, and other components. The panel bears a resolution of Quad HD+ (1,440 x 3,120 pixels), an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, and an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometrics.

Under the hood, the phones are powered by 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 mobile platform that was recently introduced. The silicone packs dual Neural Processing Units (NPU), which are capable of analysing the photos and produce the best possible shots available. As for the configurations, Huawei ships the Mate 20 Pro in India with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, while the Mate 20 RS Porsche Design offers 8GB of RAM and 512GB storage.

For photography, the Mate 20 duo comes with Leica triple-rear camera module. The setup comprises a 40-megapixel wide angle lens with f/1.8 aperture lens + 20-megapixel secondary sensor ultra wide angle lens with f/ 2.2 aperture lens + 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture lens. All the three sensors support autofocus and AIS – Huawei’s AI image stabilisation. The front camera on both the phones is a 24-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. The front camera also supports 3D depth-sensing camera for facial recognition using dot projector, flood illuminator and IR camera. users can also use the setup to create a live emoji of self.

The handsets run Android 9 Pie with Huawei’s custom EMUI 9.0 skin out of the box. Other features include IP68 certified water and dust resistant and connectivity options like dual SIM, 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, a USB Type-C port and GPS. There isn’t a 3.5mm headphone jack on either of the phones. Lastly, a whopping 4,200mAh battery fuels both Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design with 40W Huawei SuperCharge support. The devices also support 15W wireless charging, and they can also be used to reverse charge another device wirelessly.
