Samsung Galaxy J4 Core vs J2 Core: what’s different
“After the Galaxy J2 Core, the Samsung Galaxy J4 Core is the second Android Go smartphone from the South Korean giant”
Samsung has finally pulled the wraps from Android Go-powered Galaxy J4 Core. The latest from the South Korean brand arrives with a 6-inch HD+ display and comes with features like Optimised Data Control and Ultra Data Saving. The brand’s Galaxy J2 Core (first impressions) was an entry-level offering, so Samsung has tried to fix some of its shortcomings with its new offering. So in this article, let’s take a closer look at both the devices and see how they differ.
Samsung Galaxy J2 Core Vs J4 Core: what’s different?
The Samsung Galaxy J4 Core comes equipped with a 6-inch TFT display as opposed to the 5-inch panel on the J2 Core. That apart, the screen on the J4 Core offers a better resolution of 1,480 x 720 pixels in comparison to its sibling with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels.
Samsung has doubled up the internal storage on the Galaxy J4 Core. The new smartphone comes with 16GB of internal storage as opposed to the 8GB memory on the J2 Core.
There have been some changes on the battery front as well, the J4 Core is backed by a respectable 3,300mAh battery as opposed to the 2,600 mAh battery on the Galaxy J2 Core.
Samsung Galaxy J2 Core Vs J4 Core: what’s the same?
In terms of specs, both smartphones come powered by the Exynos 7570 processor and feature 1GB of RAM. While a gigabyte of RAM seems to be a letdown, the fact that the phones ship with Android Go should ensure smooth performance. Speaking of which, both handsets ship with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) and will likely receive an upgrade to Android Pie.
Camera-wise, the Galaxy J2 Core and the J4 Core feature 8-megapixel cameras at the rear and 5-megapixel sensors on the front. Both phones also come with an LED flash unit for selfies.
Both the Samsung Galaxy J4 Core and J2 Core offer support for 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v4.2 and GPS.
Closing thoughts
Android Go is Google’s ambitious project that aims at optimising the overall user experience for entry-level handsets. Google works in tandem with the smartphone manufacturers and helps them offer the best experience without the need for high-end hardware. Additionally, Google has developed an array of Go Edition that is suited for these devices. So it’s certainly interesting to see Samsung partnering with the search titan to introduce affordable phones that can deliver smooth user experience. At this juncture however, the pricing of the Samsung Galaxy J4 Core isn’t known. Considering the J2 Core was launched at Rs 6,190, we can expect the brand’s latest to be priced slightly higher. While this segment gets notable offerings from the likes of Xiaomi and Realme, the J4 Core can still manage to stand out with its availability across offline stores and the affinity for the Samsung brand. Now it remains to be seen if and when the brand decides to launch it in the country.
