Samsung W2019 to be announced on November 9

“The W2018’s successor is said to come featuring 4.2-inch dual displays and dual primary cameras”

After a number of leaks, Samsung is all set to launch its clamshell W2019 smartphone on November 9th. Successor to last year’s W2018 smartphone, the device is expected to come with dual primary cameras and could be powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC. The Korean smartphone maker has announced that it will be holding an event on November 9 and from the poster it’s evident that it’s for the W2019.

Apart from a TENAA spotting a few weeks ago, revealing a few specs and images, a number of hands-on images of the phone were also leaked. The phone is expected to feature 4.2-inch displays. It could be powered by a 3,000mAh battery, 700mAh more than its predecessor and will feature dual-SIM support. Other features leaked earlier include, Android OS and connectivity options like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The phone’s predecessor, the W2018, offers a 12MP primary camera, flaunting an aperture of f/1.5. The camera has been designed such that it switches between f/2.4 and f/1.5, depending upon the ambient lighting. The W2018 flaunts a front camera of 5MP. The phone flaunts a glass sandwich design with Gorilla Glass protection, with the displays being Super AMOLED panels measuring 4.2-inches diagonally with full HD resolution. The smartphone was powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC at the time of launch, along with 6GB. It’s available in two variants – Extreme Edition with 64GB storage and Collector Edition with 256GB storage.

The W2018 features a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel close to the camera module, and a dedicated Bixby button. The phone runs on a 2,300mAh battery. It was launched at a price of CNY 15,999 (~Rs 1,56,000). We will update you as and when we find out exactly what features and price the W2018’s successor, the W2019 will come with. So stay tuned!
