Vivo Z1 Lite smartphone goes official; Snapdragon 626 SoC and dual rear cameras in tow

“The Z1 Lite is a toned-down version of the Vivo Z1 smartphone that was launched back in May”

Vivo has gone ahead and officially launched the Z1 Lite smartphone in its home market, China. The company did the unveiling days after the handset was spotted on the e-commerce site for pre-orders. The Vivo Z1 Lite comes as a stripped-down version of the Vivo Z1 smartphone that was announced back in May. The new Z-series phone is an entry-level offering from the brand that offers premium notched display design and a decent spec sheet.

Vivo Z1 Lite Price and Availability

The Vivo Z1 Lite has been priced at RMB 1,098 (~Rs 11,500) in China. The phone comes in three shades: black, blue, and purple. Starting today, the Vivo Z1 Lite is available for purchase across the country. There is no announcement as to when Vivo will introduce its Z-series phone in India yet.

Vivo Z1 Lite Specifications

The Vivo Z1 Lite has almost the same form factor as its elder sibling – the Vivo Z1. The only notable difference is the new colour codes. Apart from this, everything including the notch atop the display, alignment of dual rear camera setup and fingerprint sensor on Z1 Lite is the same as the Z1 smartphone.

As for the specifications, the Z1 Lite sports a 6.26-inch display with a resolution of full-HD+ and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 626 chipset, which is a downgrade from Vivo Z1’s Snapdragon 660 SoC. The phonemaker has equipped the handset with 4GB of RAM and 32GB storage, which can be further expanded by adding a microSD card.

For imaging, the phone sports a combination of 16MP + 2MP sensors on the rear with LED flash. The setup seems slightly better than the Vivo Z1’s 13MP + 2MP rear camera on paper. On the front, the Z1 Lite shoots selfies with the same 16MP shooter as seen on its sibling. The phone boots Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.0 custom UI out of the box. In terms of connectivity, you get Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and 4G VoLTE. Lastly, a 3,260mAh battery fuels the Vivo Z1 Lite.
