Google Fit update brings new homescreen widgets; Wear OS gets guided breathing exercises

“Google has added new features just in time for the busy holiday season to make it easier for users to achieve their health goals”

Google has updated its Google Fit app to add two new homescreen widgets on Android and introduce breathing exercises on Wear OS. The introduction of the new widgets aims to offer a better overview of your health data.  According to Google, the updates for both Android and Wear OS will start rolling out this week itself.

The two new Google Fit widgets include an octagonal indicator that displays Move Minutes and Heart Points along, with the corresponding count on the homescreen itself. Another widget is a pill-shaped indicator that displays further details like calories burned, steps taken, and miles travelled.

The Wear OS, on the other hand, gets a new feature called guided breathing exercise, which will help the users to unwind and relax during the busy schedule of the holiday season. The update adds some more interesting features to the app as well. Fit will now note and display the stats and points of your last workout along with a GPS map. Moreover, users will also be able to adjust the activity sensitivity while logging a workout session manually in the Journal tab. According to Google, this will improve the accuracy of the Heart Points.

“Many of you have shared your feature requests and today—just in time for the busy holidays—we’re bringing new updates to make it easier to achieve your health goals,” stated Google in a blog post.
