Nokia 8 Android 9 Pie stable update finally starts rolling out

The Nokia 8 Android 9 Pie stable update has finally started rolling out after a long delay. This update comes just a week after the Android Pie beta update was released for Nokia 8 for fans eagerly waiting for a taste of the latest version of Android. It was previously rumoured that HMD Global had been delaying releasing the Nokia 8 Android Pie update in order to boost sales of the new Nokia 8.1 smartphone, a claim that was refuted by the company’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas.

In a tweet, Sarvikas announced that the Nokia 8 Android 9 Pie update is being released now. However, not all users of the smartphone will get the update immediately as this is a phased rollout. To check if your unit is part of the initial rollout, then check the System Update section of the System menu in Settings app on your phone.
The new Nokia 8 Android Pie stable update brings the new gesture-based UI to the smartphone. Along with this, the handset will now have Adaptive Battery power prioritisation for commonly used apps as well as Adaptive and optimised brightness levels. The update also brings the Android Security Patch for December 2018.
Nokia 8, priced in India at Rs 28,999, was launched in August last year as the first smartphone with the Bothie’ functionality. It has a 5.3-inch 2K (1,440 x 2,560 pixels) Always-On display with 16:9 aspect ratio and is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 835 SoC. The smartphone has 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage internal storage, with microSD card support up to 256GB.
In the camera department, the Nokia 8 has dual 13-megapixel sensors with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12-micron pixel size, 76.9-degree wide-angle lens, PDAF, IR range finder, and dual-tone flash. In the front is another 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 1.12-micron pixel size, 78.4-degree wide-angle lens, and selfie flash. The battery capacity of the smartphone is 3,090mAh and IP54 rating for splash-resistance.
