Samsung Galaxy S10 5G variant could be showcased at MWC 2019
“LG is reportedly expected to launch a 5G smartphone at MWC 2019 as well”
Samsung is widely expected to unveil its Galaxy S10 models at MWC next year in February. Several reports suggest that the South Korean brand is planning to launch a 5G model of its flagship phone at the same event. Now, a new report from Korea has reiterated that the company will be showcasing a 5G smartphone at MWC. Separately, Galaxy S10 has been tipped to feature a smaller hole on its display in comparison with the one present on the Galaxy A8s.
Talking first about the 5G handset from Samsung, the report by Korea Herald states that Samsung is planning to showcase its new 5G handset, expected to be the Galaxy S10 5G, in February and release the phone in March upon the commercialisation of 5G services in markets such as the US and South Korea. Citing industry sources, the report further claims that LG is also expected to launch a 5G handset at the MWC 2019.
“LG had been expected to introduce 5G phones around May in Korea and the United States, but the company’s new mobile business leadership has changed the plan recently not to be a latecomer in the 5G market,” an industry official was quoted as saying in the report.
The report suggests that the company can potentially launch an upgraded variant of LG G7 ThinQ with Qualcomm’s 5G chipsets at the event. This variant may or may not be called G8 ThinQ.
Coming to the Galaxy S10 punch hole design, the next year’s flagship has been tipped to feature a smaller hole on the display in comparison to the company’s Galaxy A8s. For the uninitiated, Galaxy A8s is the first handset from Samsung to feature an Infinity-O display and the company is expected to use this same design on all three Galaxy S10 models next year. Disappointingly, the actual hole on the Galaxy A8s turned out to be bigger than the one seen in the handset’s renders.

However, as per a leaked live image of Galaxy S10, shared by prolific tipster Ice Universe, the flagship handset from Samsung will be featuring a relatively smaller hole. Considering that this information is based on a leak image, we will advise our readers to take it with a pinch of salt.
Another notable difference, as you might have guessed already, is that the Galaxy S10 is expected to feature an AMOLED panel, compared to the LCD panel on the Galaxy A8s. Interestingly, some of the key details regarding the specifications and pricing of the three models have been leaked in earlier reports. We will have to wait for Samsung’s official announcement for any confirmation but stay tuned in to our website to stay up to date regarding any leaks that follow.
