Apple patents smartphone with full-screen display
“The mysterious Apple device features a dual-rear camera setup and headphone jack”
Apple has been granted a patent filed back in 2016 for a mysterious smartphone, making for some interesting revelations. Though the patent filing hasn’t stated the name of the device, it does offer us some renders.

Straight off the bat, it shows that phone will have an edge-to-edge display, and unlike the newer iPhone models, there won’t be a notch up top. It’ll be interesting to see where and how Apple plans to place the selfie camera. One probability could be an on-screen front camera, just like the Galaxy A8s. The Samsung device uses an Infinity O display that has a hole at the top right corner to house a selfie camera.

The rear panel of the Apple handset seems to be slightly curved with dual cameras at the top-right corner
aligned horizontally. This Apple device also seems to sport a 3.5mm headphone jack and an iPhone 4-like charging port at the bottom edge. The right spine of the handset has a volume rocker, while the power button seems to be at the top edge.
Unfortunately, the patent doesn’t reveal the specifications of the handset. While the all-display fascia of the device seems to be modern, its overall design certainly feels dated. That begs the question, will iPhone maker ever launch the device? However, looking at the recent trend of notch-less full-screen smartphone displays, Apple – which first introduced the notch with iPhone X (review) – could follow the trend.
