Huawei to roll out EMUI 9.0 update for P20 Pro and the Nova 3 soon

Huawei’s Android 9 Pie based skin EMUI 9.0 was announced in India back in October with market specific features such as local languages support, Indian calendar and Paytm integration. However not many devices have till now received the update. Now it looks like P20 Pro and the Huawei Nova 3 will soon become the first batch of Huawei smartphones in India to receive the latest update. The company recently posted an image on its Instagram account which says that “EMUI 9.0 update is coming soon to Huawei P20 Pro and Nova 3”. Surprisingly Huawei hasn’t stated the exact date as to when the roll out will commence.

Considering that both the above mentioned smartphones run on Huawei’s in-house Kirin 970 chipset, we expect other smartphones powered by the same chipset to also receive the EMUI 9.0 update soon after it is released for P20 Pro and Nova 3. This includes the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, the regular P20, and the Honor View 10 and Play among others. The core set of MIUI 9.0 features includes bring better one-hand operations, Android Dashboard, GPU Turbo 2.0 and better touchscreen responsiveness and connectivity. It also comes with HiVision, which is an AR platform that works similar to Google Lens.

Huawei P20 Pro was launched in April last year for a starting price of Rs 64,999. Powered by an octa-core Kirin 970 SoC coupled with Mali-G72 GPU, the phone is further backed by 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB on-board storage. The 6.1-inch OLED Full HD+ display offers a resolution of 2244 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:7:9. In terms of optics there’s a triple-lens setup at the back with Leica branding and a single 24MP snapper on the front side.
