BSNL reportedly discontinues five prepaid data packs with long validity

“The prepaid recharges terminated by BSNL include Rs 549, Rs 561, Rs 2,798, Rs 3,998, and Rs 4,498”

State-owned telecom service BSNL may have removed as many as five long-validity data-only prepaid packs from the lineup of its recharges. As reported by TelecomTalk, BSNL has discontinued Rs 549, Rs 561, Rs 2,798, Rs 3,998, and Rs 4,498 recharges across the country; however, Gadgets 360 claims that they are still active in Punjab and Arunachal Pradesh. The recharges were offering subscribers up to 2GB data per day with a maximum validity of 365 days.

It’s worth mentioning that there hasn’t been any confirmation over the termination of BSNL’s prepaid packs at the moment. We’ll update the copy as soon as it’s there. Talking about the recharges, the entry-level Rs 549 pack offers 2GB daily data benefits along with PRBT (personalised ring back tone) for 60 days, while the slightly expensive Rs 561 comes with 1GB data benefit and PRBT for 80 days. The Rs 2,798 provide 1GB data for the next 365 days of the recharge. Lastly, the Rs 3,998 and Rs 4,498 were designed to offer 1.5GB and 2GB of daily data benefits per day along with 365 days benefits.

In related news, BSNL has recently revised its Rs 666 and Rs 349 prepaid packs. To start with, the Rs 666 recharge now comes with unlimited voice calling benefits and 1.5GB data per day for 122 days instead of 129 days. The Rs 349 recharge, on the other hand, offers the same 1GB data and unlimited voice calling benefit, but its validity has been increased to 64 days from 54 days. The recharge is now well placed to give tough competition to the likes of Airtel and Recharge Jio in the similar segment.
