Redmi Note 7 Pro price to be around RMB 2,000, Xiaomi executive suggests
“The Redmi Note Pro will boast of Snapdragon 675 chipset and 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 camera”
Xiaomi spin-off brand Redmi is all set to unveil the much-anticipated Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphone next week in China. The brand’s general manager Lu Weibing confirmed the launch earlier today via his official Weibo account. Replying to comments of his original post, Weibing has also hinted at the Redmi Note 7 Pro price. While not the exact pricing, the figure revealed by the executive gives us a look at what kind of price point the company wants to position the handset.

On the post in which Weibing revealed the Redmi Note 7 Pro launch will be tomorrow, one fan asked how would they choose between the handset and the new Mi 9. To this, he replied (roughly translated) that buyers should go for the former if their budget is RMB 2,000, while those who go up to RMB 3,000 should go for latter. This pegs the Redmi Note 7 Pro price around of around RMB 2,000 (about Rs 21,000), though it is more likely the prices will spread out between RMB 1,599 (~Rs 17,000) and RMB 1,999 (~Rs 21,000) for the variants on offer.
Redmi Note 7 Pro specifications
To recall, the handset will be a slightly upgraded version of the Redmi Note 7 (review) that was launched last month. For starters, the ‘Pro’ variant is confirmed to have Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 675 chipset and 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 camera instead of the Samsung GM1 sensor. The phone is also tipped come with 18W fast-charging support out-of-the-box.

On the display front, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is expected to sport a 6.43-inch display with waterdrop-style notch and full-HD+ resolution. It’s likely to equip up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. For photography, the 48-megapixel Sony sensor on the device is said to be accompanied by an unknown secondary sensor. Its front camera will reportedly feature a 13-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling. The entire setup could be run by a 4,000mAh battery and boot Android 9 Pie out of the box.
