Redmi Note 7 Pro with 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor and Snapdragon 675 SoC launched in India

Apart from the Redmi Note 7, Xiaomi’s spin-off Redmi also introduced the Redmi Note 7 Pro at an event in India today. The handset makes its global debut here in the country, and as was confirmed, it boasts of a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor that’s said to capture slightly better images compared to the Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor with similar resolution. Other than that, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s latest 10nm Snapdragon 675 chipset that was recently announced in Vivo V15 Pro. Redmi claims that the handset scored 1,80,808 score in Antutu benchmarking site – most by any device in the segment.

Similar to the Redmi Note 7, the ‘Pro’ variant also dons a glass sandwich design with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ display with a slight cut-out up top, which the company likes to call Dot Notch. The Snapdragon 675 chipset ticking at its core is paired with Adreno 612GPU and up to 128GB RAM. The phone comes with up to 128GB internal storage, which can be further expandable using a microSD card.
For photography, the 48-megapixel (f/1.79) Sony IMX sensor on the rear is mated with 5-megapixel depth-sensing shooter with LED flash. The cameras are backed by pixel binning, 4k video recording, EIS, AI scene detection and AI portrait to further enhance the results. Xiaomi will further add Studio Lighting to the handset via a software update in the future.
The phone boots Android 9 Pie with Xiaomi’s custom MIUI 10 skin out of the box. On the battery front, it houses a 4,000mAh cell that is said to last up to 2 days on a single charge. The phone is backed by Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4 tech to rapidly recharge the beefy battery.
