Samsung Galaxy S10+ first software update adds Bixby key functionality

It has been a shade over one week since Samsung took the wraps off its swanky new Galaxy S10 lineup, and the first software update for the Galaxy S10+ is already hitting devices across the world. The update was initially said to be primarily rolling out to devices in Europe, but is seemingly being pushed to all Samsung Galaxy S10+ (first impressions) devices.
The changelog of the software update states three key factors. In terms of new features, there are not a lot of exciting things to talk about, since Samsung has rolled out pretty much all of its features at the time of launch. The only thing that was to be updated is the Bixby button, which Samsung has now done with this new update, giving the button flexibility of operation. Users of the Samsung Galaxy S10+ can now set a custom app or function that will be launched on the screen, instead of the Bixby AI assistant.
The other key improvements brought along with this update include stability improvements to the camera and the camera app, which also gets direct integration with Instagram now. Samsung has also faced intermittent issues with the performance of the in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which has been seemingly addressed with this update. The software update is being rolled out already, and is a shade below 500MB in size.
The Samsung Galaxy S10+ is the first flagship smartphone of 2019, including the latest Exynos 9820/Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, up to 1TB storage and a total of six cameras on the device. While the specifications pretty much match everyone’s expectations of the phone, what stands out is how unique and neat the front camera looks. With Samsung’s Infinity-O display, the two front cameras are integrated to be a part of the display, requiring practically no space to incorporate the front cameras.
It is likely that you may not have received the update already, since Samsung may have opted for a phased rollout of the feature. If that is how the update is being pushed, you should still expect to receive it very soon.
