Google Pixel 3a with 4GB RAM, Android 9.0 Pie spotted on Geekbench ahead of May 7th launch

Google’s Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have been all over the news for the past few weeks. The Mountain View company will be introducing the mid-range smartphones at the I/O 2019 event on May 7th. Now, ahead of the official launch, the Pixel 3a has surfaced on the Geekbench confirming most of the rumours we already came across. According to the listing, the Pixel 3a runs Android 9.0 Pie, and ships with a processor from Qualcomm (name isn’t specified) which is paired with 4GB of RAM. 

As per the benchmark, the Google Pixel 3a managed to score 1,625 points in the single-core test and 5,206 points in the multi-core test, which is in line with most mid-tier handsets. The device sports a 5.6-inch full HD+ display with a pixel density of 400 ppi. In comparison, the Pixel 3a XL is expected to sport a relatively larger 6-inch full HD+ display. The phones are rumoured to be powered by the Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 670 / 710 chipset and are also likely to retain the similar 12MP rear camera found on the Pixel 3 duo with features like night sight, and HDR+ accounted for. 

The main difference in terms of design is the slightly thick bezels and a single front camera (the larger Pixel 3 XL comes with dual front-facing shooters). Interestingly, unlike their flagship siblings, the new handsets are said to offer a 3.5mm audio socket for audiophiles. Rumours suggest the Pixel 3a (Sargo) will cost CAD 649 (~Rs 33,500) while the bigger Pixel 3a XL (Bonito) might be priced at CAD 799 (~Rs 41,500) for the 64GB storage variant, corroborating with an earlier report. Since it is a carrier pricing, the actual cost of the phones might vary a little. We will be on the ground at I/O to bring you everything you need to know about the upcoming Pixel 3a and 3a XL, so keep an eye out.
