Hathway is reportedly offering complimentary ‘Play Box’ streaming device to its broadband subscribers

Popular cable and broadband service provider Hathway had launched its Android-powered Play Box in collaboration with Datacom back in October 2018. It makes your dumb TV a smart one by bringing capabilities of Android TV. Now, according to TelecomTalk’s report, the company is reportedly offering the Play Box as a complimentary service to subscribers opting for 100 Mbps and above plans for at least two months. The offer will be limited to Chennai initially and is said to be valid on plans starting from Rs 949 per month.

Users need to pay Rs 2,850 initially for subscribing to the 100Mbps plan for three months. This plan offers a monthly FUP limit of 1TB. The offer will also be expanded to other cities, including Hyderabad with some changes depending on the services. The Hathway Play Box as a standalone product costs Rs 2,999 and comes with Google Assistant and in-built Chromecast support that allows users to mirror movies, TV shows, games and more from their Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows devices to their TV

The Hathway Play Box Android TV packs dedicated buttons for YouTube, Netflix, and Google Play on the remote control. The device also offers users direct access to a broad selection of global and local content. Furthermore, Hathway is reportedly offering free Netflix subscription for two months to its Play Box users and a 12-month subscription to Sun NXT and two months subscription to YuppTV and ZEE5. Hathway Ultra Smart HUB, that launched alongside Play Box, is also based on Google’s Android TV platform. The device lets users enjoy both Google Play services as well as cable TV channels on their television. Users can customise their experience on this device by installing apps from the Play Store.
